PLOT DEVELOPMENTS (BY CHARACTER)

Hiro Nakamura
Hiro Nakamura
Stops time by making a clock tick backwards. Later, in a fit of frustrated boredom, he teleports himself to New York City ("Yatta") but discovers too late that he had teleported into the future. He witnesses an explosion that destroys New York City, and teleports back home to Tokyo. He carries with him a copy of a future comic that contains his adventures.
Claire Bennet
Claire Bennet
Claire is a teenage cheerleader from Odessa, Texas, who enlists the help of one of her less-popular classmates, Zach, in documenting her attempts to destroy herself by jumping off of an 80-foot bridge. She miraculously heals in seconds, reinserting a dislocated shoulder. Later, she sticks her hand into a running garbage disposal and removes her mangled hand, which re-inflates and heals again in seconds. Whether or not she feels pain, and how she first discovered this ability, are still unknown in this episode.
Nathan Petrelli
Nathan Petrelli
Nathan flies to save Peter from his attempt at flight--off of a skyscraper. Is in the middle of an election for Congress.
Mr. Bennet

Is part of an organization investigating the senior Professor Suresh's apartment in India. Revealed to be Claire's father, and it is implied that he is behind Suresh's death.
Niki Sanders
Is an internet stripper and Ando is one of her clients. Owes a large sum of money to a mob boss; when thugs try to rough her up, she blacks out and wakes up to find them torn apart. When she returns to the garage later, she finds it immaculate, with a note and some car keys.
D.L. Hawkins
Does not appear. Is mentioned in passing by Niki when Micah suggests going to him for help.
Simone Deveaux
Simone Deveaux

Her father is Charles Deveaux, the dying man Peter is caring for. In a relationship with Isaac, and is his art dealer that takes his paintings to galleries to sell.
Micah Sanders
Child prodigy who is in a private school for a short time until the principle decides it is unsuitable for him. Knows that his mom is an internet stripper.
Peter Petrelli

Peter is plagued by lucid dreams about flying and a yearning to be something more important than a hospice nurse. He later decides to try his hand at flying, and thankfully Nathan (his brother) is there to save him.
Isaac Mendez
Is a drug-addicted artist who can paint the future when he's high. In a long-term relationship with Simone Deveaux, daughter of the man Peter is caring for.

Matt Parkman

He is not mentioned in this episode.
Mohinder Suresh
A genetics professor following in his father's footsteps concerning the possibility of humans with extraordinary abilities such as human flight, tissue regeneration, telekenesis, etc. Learns his father was killed in New York, where he went to look for "supers", leaving his whole life behind.

SPOTTING THE SYMBOLS

Heroes Eclipse
The Eclipse
Heroes: The Mark
The Scar
Heroes: The Helix
The Helix
  • Is a worldwide event and is shown in the credits.

  • If you look closely at the pool at the crime scene Matt Parkman visits, the Helix is formed by pool noodles.
  • Can be seen hidden in the genetic code computer program Mohinder finds

BURNING QUESTIONS

  • It's implied that Peter only flies when in close contact with Nathan, but he should have absorbed his power after the first time he came in contact with Nathan after Nathan learned how to fly.
  • It appears that Isaac has convinced Simone about his ability, but in later episodes she is disbelieving.

BEST LINES

  • "You are super-Hiro!"- Ando
  • "Use the death Grip!".- Ando
  • " I can bend time and space." -Hiro "Too bad you are not paid by the hour".-Ando

TRIVIA

  • Isaac's artwork is actually done by Tim Sale, a comic book artist known for his work on Batman: The Long Halloween, The Challengers of the Unknown Must Die, and Superman for All Seasons. The writer on these books was Jeph Loeb, an accomplished comic book writer who is also one of the executive producers of the show.
  • Hiro and Ando are in the karaoke bar and there are two guys on the stage, wearing athletic apparel and singing a Backstreet Boys song, alluding to the Two Chinese Boys who became YouTube superstars for the very same act.

9th BLUNDERS (continuity errors, goofs, and factual misrepresentations)

  • Several characters are shown looking straight up at the sun during a partial eclipse. In reality they all would of suffered major eye damage in doing so. Niki, who uses a pinhole camera to view the eclipse is the only one who used a safe method of viewing.
  • Mohinder claims that "humans only use 10% of their brains" but that myth has been disproven by many creditable scientists.
