MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS

    • Niki is able to access her strength without Jessica. Uses it to save Micah from Candice and also contributes in fight against Sylar.
    • Molly Walker mentions someone who is a "lot worse" than the Bogeyman (Sylar). Potential new villain introduction in this.
    • Nathan sacrifices himself to save New York by flying Peter high above the city.
    • Peter, Niki, Noah Bennet and Parkman team together to fight Sylar...Parkman is shot multiple times and his survival is uncertain.
    • Hiro appears to have vanquished Sylar.... although there was a blood trail leading to a manhole, on which a cockroach is crawling (could the cockroach be Sylar?)
    • Hiro finds himself immersed in 1671 Japan, in the middle of a battle. Just then, an eclipse occurs.....

    SYNOPSIS

    PLOT DEVELOPMENTS (BY CHARACTER)

    Hiro Nakamura

    Hiro acknowledges his destiny and goes after Ando. He arrives just in time as Sylar is about to kill his friend. Quickly, Hiro disappers and reappears to snatch him and Ando back to Japan. Here he tells his friend that he must do the rest of this part of his journey alone. Later, during the Peter/Sylar battle.....Hiro appears, stabbing Sylar through the chest. As he falls, Sylar is able to telekinetically throw him across the plaza. Hiro is able to teleport....but ends up in a different century.




    Claire Bennet
    Claire Bennet



    		 Claire is on her way to prepare for the inevitable until her grandmother and Nathan interfere. Told to leave the country she resides with her family until she makes a break for it, jumping through the window. She is later ready to end Peter's life until..........................
    Nathan Petrelli
    Nathan Petrelli



    		 ...........................Nathan, after the news of Linderman's death and despite his mother's advice, returns to the plaza to help Peter. They both were able to save the world. Nathan flies Peter and himself into the sky, leaving NY intact.
    Maybe dead?
    Mr. Bennet




    		 Although Noah Bennet does not possess any special abilities, he tries to help avert nuclear disaster by wielding a gun to shoot Sylar and/or shoot Peter Petrelli.



    Niki Sanders




    		 Overcomes her sister's, Jessica's, influence and embraces her superstrength abilities. Uses her strength (breaks handle off a door) to prevent her family, Mohinder Suresh, and Molly Walker from being caught by Linderman's men. Uses her strength to hit Sylar with a parking meter. Her proximity to Peter Petrelli gives Peter the superstrength to pound Sylar a few times.



    D.L. Hawkins




    		 After using his phasing ability in the previous episode to help Niki Sanders and him escape Linderman's men after he was shot by Linderman and subsequently killed Linderman by fisting his brain, Niki drags him to safety throughout this finale episode.



    Simone Deveaux
    Simone Deveaux



    		 Appears in Peter Petrelli's "dream" sequence with Charles Deveraux and Angela Petrelli.




    Micah Sanders




    		 Uses his abilities to operate an malfunctioning elevator to help his family, Mohinder Suresh, and Molly Walker escape from Linderman's men.



    Peter Petrelli




    		 Brought Claire Bennet to Nathan Petrelli who ultimately helped reawaken Nathan's conscience. Severely weakened Sylar with Niki Sanders's superstrength pounding. Went nuclear after Nathan Petrelli flew him to the stratosphere. Maybe dead?



    Isaac Mendez



    		 Still Dead






    Matt Parkman




    		 Didn't use his telepathic ability in this episode, but rather relied on his sense of duty as a law enforcement officer to go after Sylar. He fired 5 shots at Sylar only to have him use TK to stop the bullets and fling them back at Parkman. Hauled away in an ambulance at the end, maybe dead?



    Mohinder Suresh




    		 Drew a gun at Noah to protect Molly and then together they tried to leave the Company building. Although a genetics professor, he tended to the wounded DL Hawkins (shot once) and Matt Parkman (shot five times) after giving Molly Walker another transfusion of his own antibodies.





    Sylar

    1.23: How to Stop an Exploding Man - Heroes

    		 Painted another future that reveals his standoff with Peter Petrelli and in a self-fulfilling prophecy goes to Kirby Plaza to face him. His painting revealed that Peter would be the one to go nuclear. Uses his telekinetic ability to throw Ando against a window. Uses his telekinetic ability to throw Noah Bennet against a wall, uses either his telekinetic ability to choke Peter for a few moments, stops and reverses Matt Parkman's five bullets, is hit by a parking meter and distracted by Niki Sanders which forces him to release his choke-hold of Peter, gets a pounding from Peter, stabbed by Hiro Nakamura, uses his telekinetic power to throw Hiro across Kirby Plaza and prevent Hiro from killing Peter, and his eyes go white as if he saw another vision of the future with him dying. Stabbed, but dead? Left a trail of blood that leads to a cracked open manhole cover with the infamous cockroach on top.

    BURNING QUESTIONS
    • Did Peter and Nathan necessarily die? Peter has Claire's power and Nathan could have dropped him and flew off once out of the way of New York?
    • Who does Molly see that is worse than Sylar?
    • Where did Sylar go? Did he transfigure into the cockroach? Is transfiguration one of his abilities?

    BEST LINES

    • "You saved the cheerleader......so we could save the world."-Nathan to Peter
    • "The future isn't written in stone." -Claire to Nathan
    • Molly - "The elevator doesn't work." Micah - "Yes it does."

    Claire is the one that shows up then and not Hiro. She takes the gun and points to Peter, nervously shuts once, but, Sylar reverts the bullet and grazes Claire with it, she heals. she knows she need to get close to Peter to do it, she moves in. but Sylar throws nuclear balls at her, but she heals and keeps comming, telekinesis but she gets up, heals and keeps coming. Sylar has one last trick: his power of persuasion (another power he stole, he could not have use it until then because to much stuff going on to do so, you need a calm moment) and makes Claire point the gun at her head (taking out a piece of wood is not the same us a bullet). Sylar tells her "the glory is mine", the rest try to help but Sylar pushes them back. And Peter can use any of his powers because he can control blowing up.

    At the moment is when Hiro appears and freezes time and runs the blade throw sylar before he can unfreeze ( I think sylar unfroze on his own once before). Hiro take the gun from Claire and places it on the ground. He looks at Peter and everyone else.

    "I can keep you frozen forever Peter Patrelli." Hiro is at his most desperate.

    Hiro looks up and there is Nathan floating frozen above his head.

    Hiro says:"Mr. Patrelli will know what to do". and unfreezes time.

    Nathan gets to the ground, Sylar falls to it, but before any one can say anything Sylar sends Hiro flying and he disappears. sylar "dies". Nathan runs to Claires side grabs the gun and points at Peter. That's when he says "I love you Peter .......".with tears in his eyes, he shuts. But, the bullets evaporate before reaching him because of his out of control radiation/telekinesis. Nathan turns to Claire and kisses her on the forehead she starts to cry. She knows what he is going to do. he moves close to Peter and then says:"you save the cheerleader, so we could save the world." and then they go up. the end.

    The family comes out of the building at the moment and stop to see what's going on. Then comes the scene with the cop not before. But Sylar doesn't just revert the bullet, he smack the cop against the building damaging it enough so debris fall on Micah, hurting him a bit. ( it make more sense why Nikki would fight), then the whole meter thing happens. Sylar being more powerful hits Peter not to the ground but against the fountain with the meter and telekinesis, hurting him. At the same moment Nikki is going after him. Sylar tries to stop Nikki with his power, but he does not count on how strong she is. With some effort She reaches him and take the meter, he is shocked. nikki smacks him around a few times. but Sylar manages to finally throw her near her family.

    Sylar places his attention on Peter again, who heals himself and is getting up from the blow. Peter becomes invisible in the hope of getting close enough to hurt him. but us he gets close Sylar goes " I can hear you" ( he had stolen super hearing) and smack him to where the family is. Nikki and DL touch him and Nikki says: "fight for us". Peter with both powers gets close to Sylar and is putting his fingers inside his brain, but sylar being more in control of his power takes them out before peter becomes solid and do real damage. Peter then punches him a couples of times and starts to glow. Sylar get up and says: "blah blah..... I'm the hero" then he plays with his nuclear power, making balls with his hands and says, "you think I am going to let you........ ".

    I know I'm playing backseat writer/director and all, but that was ridiculous, here is how it should have gone:

    it would start the same, to the point where Mr. Bennett is thrown against the wall. Sylar says,"having I kill you blah blah", but when he goes to choke Peter. He counter acts with the same power and says, " I learn a few things since then". They are locked in a telekinetic struggle.

    Ok, is it just me, or did the ending make absolutely NO sense. If Peter can heal himself, why didn't Claire just shoot him to stop the explosion? We already know that he can regenerate himself from the Five Years Gone episode, and we know he can survive a bullet because he survived the glass incident with Sylar. And why did Nathan have to die as well? They better have a good explanation in Season 2.
